Pilots: Flying In? or Driving?

IF YOU ARE FLYING IN TO LOEFI, BE ADVISED …

  • There has been construction at KAEG this summer and the taxiway arrangements have changed. These changes have not yet been published in the AFD.
    • Click here to download a PDF file from the Airport Manager depicting the new arrangement of taxiways.
    • Inbound: Listen to ATIS on 119.025.
      • On first call, give distance and direction from airport. NOTE: tower controllers now have radar!
      • After landing, tell Double Eagle Ground that you are “going to the Fly In”.  Expect to taxi to parking in the tie-down area on the north ramp.
      • Note that Taxiway Bravo no longer takes you directly to the ramp. You may have to cross Runway 22/4 using Taxiway B1 to A1. See new airport diagram.
    • Parking, fuel, and Fly-in Registration: Bode will provide fuel off truck at self serve price. Tie downs are limited; please bring chocks and ropes. Register with EAA179 for pilot gifts, meal tickets for the pilot and passengers, and for aircraft judging!
      • Parking in front of Bode FBO is reserved for transient aircraft. Self Serve fuel island will be closed. Double Eagle II Airport information: Airnav
    • Outbound: Accessing runway 17/35 from the ramp requires crossing runway 22/04. Also, there are new run up areas at both Runway 22 and Runway 17. Contact ground before proceeding FROM  runup areas TO the runway unless otherwise instructed.  If you have questions, call AEG Tower.

STAYING A NIGHT, Friday or Saturday?

  • If you prefer camping:
    • For anyone wishing to come Friday (or stay over Saturday night?), Kay Tannis, airport manager at Sandia Airpark (1N1), is offering space for camping .. and more.
      • She has tie-down spots for up to seven aircraft and camping space between the hangars and the runway.
      • There is a restroom available at the FBO.
      • 100LL fuel is available.
      • She is charging $20 per site (tie-down and camping space), and is including a hamburger cookout Friday evening.
      • Stay Friday night at 1N1, then fly over to KAEG in the morning for the Fly-In, or 1N1 Saturday night before heading home.
