Flying Start & Eagle Flights

Experience for Adults Who Want to Learn to Fly.

Want to learn how to fly but do not know where to start?  Are you serious about becoming a pilot? Chapter 179 hosts Flying Start and Eagle Flight events each year at the Double Eagle II airport (KAEG).

  • Flying Start – a half-day seminar introducing you to what, how, and where you may go to become a private pilot. It is designed to help adults (18 and up) explore various flight training goals and pathways.  It introduces you to other pilots, students, and instructors, and to flight training options.  Included will be discussions of opportunities you may have after completing flight training, not just for airplanes but also for Light Sport (LSA), rotor wing, gliders, and Trikes.
  • Eagle Flights – an introductory flight with one of our Chapter’s pilots. Experience firsthand ‘piloting’ from preflight to takeoff, maneuvering, landing, and post-flight activities. You will have the opportunity to discuss flying and ‘piloting’ and to answer your questions about becoming a pilot and even better, the experiences in your future as a pilot.

For more information from EAA about these companion programs, check out these pages on the web:  Flying Start and Eagle Flights. And check our Chapter 179 web site – eaa179.org – for announcements and to register for upcoming events.

EAA Chapter 179 presents these programs when we have received interest from enough participants to schedule an event.  Tell us about your interest with eMail to flyingstart@eaa179.org. We will contact you with dates and location for your invitation to “Come Fly with Us!’’
