Program: History of the Albuquerque International Sunport

Beginning with the story of two Santa Fe Railway employees who constructed Albuquerque’s first airport in 1928, the stage was set for the establishment of what is now the Albuquerque International Sunport. The “Sunport” first opened in 1939 with service by two air carriers, one with an east-west route and one with a north-south route, and soon became an air transportation hub for the State of New Mexico now handling more than 5 million passengers per year with multiple airlines flying nonstop to over 30 destinations.

Monthly Chapter Gatherings offer time to network, with programs centered on exchanging experiences and ideas about aviation – airplanes, flying, and flying activities – rather than the chapter business addressed in Board meetings.
